Started the ride in Newport News (Va) today after a day in New York followed by a hellish night on the greyhound buses where it was impossible to get any shut eye so we stayed the night in a motel afterward. Mark picked up his brand spanking new cannondale badboy from Contes cycles. The guys there sorted us out a treat with discounts on the gear and a few extras. (thanks Guys!). We rode about 20 miles to the start point in Yorktown where we followed the colonial way, a very nice easy straight road, all the way through to Jamestown via a place called Williamsburg, one of the strangest places I have ever been. It is a mock up of a colonial town complete with horse drawn carriages driven by guys in tights, Ye olde taverns and stupendously over priced fast food. It was surreal to say the least and completely unexpected.

We spent that night at a campsite in Jamestown just down the road at the end of the colonial parkway by a beautiful lake which was a joy to wake up to in the morning. We must have covered about 60 miles, unfortunately I can't give an exact figure because the bike computer has been playing up, working when and if it wants to.

Heres a few photos from the top of the Empire State Building. Its an overwhelming view!
