Friday 8/4/05

Well the weather forecast was wrong. The conditions for cycling were perfect, not too hot, not too cold and we felt only a couple of drops of rain the whole day, nice. We covered some serious ground too from Buchanan to Christiansburg, about 70 miles. We followed a river for about a third of the ride along rolling country lanes where we were averaging about 20mph and when we got close to Christiansburg the mountain that we had been warned of by numerous people was found to be a molehill.
The first thimg we did when we got there was go to a Chinesse resaurant which served us some lovely food. We found out that the Lady who owned the place had a niece studying at Birmingham University, what a small world it is! So we promised we would get in contact with her when we return to the UK.

Hi Alex and Mark,
I am Alex's cousin! Probably finds it hard to remember who I am as we haven't met very often. (I am Jim's daughter, he was Alex's Mum's oldest brother.) Heard about this great charity ride you are doing from various sources and got the site address yesterday. Well done lads! America is a great place and the people are wonderful; strange at times, but that's true everywhere. Keep pedalling and good luck!
