Monday 11/4/05

Today we did the most milage yet. We rode almost exactly 90 miles across terrain which wasn't easy all the way to Breaks interstate park which borders Virginia and Kentucky. On the way to Haysi, 15 miles from Breaks we had already come over two massive climbs the biggest being Hayters gap with an elevation of 3500ft and 5 miles of climb (ouch!I am a Hayters gap hater). From Haysi though we had to climb three steep ascents over the 15 miles, which after 75 miles was not fun in the least, oh yeah and to add insult into injury when we actually made it into Breaks there was another mile of climbs to the campsite. What a nightmare!
Making matters worse though when we tried to start our campstove to put some food on Mark realised he had lost the propane adapter so our stove which we brought just a week ago was useless. Fortunately though the nice old couple who ran the campsite let us have a charcoal BBQ cheap so we could have some grub.

Had to get a photo of Hayters gap as we left it behind us, its still the nastiest hill we've climbed yet.
