Wednesday 13/04/05

Expected to cover 60-70miles today unfortunately the rain was lashing down all day so after Mark had a punture on the way into Hazard, about thirty miles away from Pippa Passes we decided to call it a day and get a motel to wait out the storm untill the next day. We had to pick the seediest motel we have ever seen though. I mean the place had a run down look about it and all the amenities were there and it was cheap, but there were some extremely dodgy looking characters just hanging around in the entrance hall and we were warned off going back to the bar at night because of the clientele by a Texan miner called Tim who we were sitting next to. that night we even heard dodgy dealing going on outside our room so we stayed indoors. The next day we heard there had been an aggravated robbery in the car park last Thursday which made the front cover of the local rag.
