Thursday 14/04/05

Made 45 miles to Booneville, where I am writing this blog from in the library. It was either 45 miles or 100 miles to Berea so we will do to Berea tomorrow. Stayed in the backyard of the local presbyterian church which was free. Unfortunately the water was off when we got there. The pastor did however send someone over to turn it on but the pipe in the washroom burst as soon as he did so we just had to fill up a camel back to cook and wash with so we had to go to bed with no shower, yuck.
The day wasn't an unmitigated disaster though. The local diner Dooleys served some top notch food and some friendly folk to chat with.

One high-light of the day, we saw a 4 foot long Black Rat Snake.

Sorry to hear about your map theft. Unfortunately, I am too far north in Illinois to have that map. However, there is a link I'll give you where you can get free maps. What I'm hoping is that the contact info will be of help to you, and those people can either get you the map you need or at least get you part of the way: http://www.dot.state.il.us/bikemap/bikehome.htm

Good luck with your trip. Keep us updated on bikeforums.net with how it's going with you.
